Field Service Technician

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Aftermarket Business Development, the Field Service Technician ensures all field service work and repairs from our global customer base are completed in a timely professional manner that exceeds customer’s safety, quality, and reliability requirements. The Field Service Technician provides a detailed Field Service Report after each assignment. He also provides technical feedback to necessary departments through the Corrective Action Report (CAR) system to ensure any issues experienced in the field are immediately corrected and closed.

 

Essential Functions

  • Executes customer’s requests for installation, commissioning, and maintenance of rotating equipment
  • Ensure effective long term corrections to CARs generated by follow up with departments as necessary
  • Work with customers to determine work scope, provide quotations, necessary parts and tool lists, and other logistic considerations necessary to prepare for field service personnel’s work
  • Gather information from current open jobs regarding equipment MTBR, and future scheduled maintenance to help bolster customer relations
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of appropriate customer and country regulatory rules, procedures, and policies, contracts, and assure proper execution of all safety related requirements for all field service activities
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise

  • Ability to manage a global maintenance program, including capability to perform effectively in high stress situations
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including use of Microsoft Excel and Windows
  • Willing to work overtime outside of business hours as required to meet customer needs
  • Experience with rotating equipment or maintenance operations
  • Awareness of work in potentially explosive atmosphere

Work Environmental and Physical Demands

  • In order to perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls
  • Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include week days, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Job will generally be performed in shop and outdoors environment, and will require frequent travel to a Client's office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply

Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required
  • Associates Degree in Engineering or related field is preferred but not required
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted
  • 3+ years’ direct or relatable experience
